Dhanush’s latest directorial venture, ‘Idli Kadai,’ is now available for audiences to stream online. Following its theatrical release on October 1st, the film has officially landed on Netflix as of October 29th. This marks a significant digital debut for the Tamil film, which has also been released in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
‘Idli Kadai’ stars Dhanush in the lead role, in addition to him penning and directing the project. The ensemble cast includes prominent actors like Arun Vijay, Shalini Pandey, Raj Kiran, Sathyaraj, Parthiban, Samuthirakani, and Nithya Menen as the female lead. The film is a joint production by Dawn Pictures and Wunderbar Films.
The plot of ‘Idli Kadai’ centers on Murugan, a young man with aspirations beyond his village. He leaves his family and their idli shop to pursue his dreams in the city. Unexpected circumstances lead him back home, where he reconnects with his heritage and experiences a life-altering transformation. The Telugu version of the film is titled ‘Idli Kottu.’ Despite facing competition from major releases like Pawan Kalyan’s ‘OG’ and Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: Chapter 1,’ ‘Idli Kadai’ garnered a lifetime box office collection of Rs 50.39 crore, with an opening day collection of Rs 11 crore.
