A woman warrior, clad in a saree, presents a fresh and welcome cinematic concept, proving that strength and heroism aren’t confined to leather pants and revealing outfits. Anushka Shetty embodies this notion in Krish Jagarlamudi’s *Ghaati*, a revenge saga. The film, reminiscent of *Khoon Bhari Maang* but more violent, focuses on a woman consumed by rage. The film is set in Andhra’s cannabis-producing region, yet it conveys a striking, almost utopian, look, which is filled with both despair and anger. Manojh Reddy Katasani’s camera captures the essence of the setting. Shetty, as the central figure, exudes an unwavering resolve amidst the manufactured chaos. It is a pleasure to watch her navigate the complex plot, though certain aspects could have been trimmed for a tighter narrative. Shetty’s portrayal of Sheelavathi, a woman of steel draped in silk, is compelling. As a bereaved woman seeking vengeance, she brings a unique coolness to the action. The look of disgust when the villain reaches out to touch her mangalsutra is a standout moment. The film could have started with the crime and proceeded to the punishment. The cop chasing her, played by Jagapathi Babu, is also an interesting character. There’s a compelling chase on a railway station early in the film. From among the rest of the characters, some are underutilized, which leads to the plot’s predictable nature.
