The first ‘Jolly’ film captivated audiences with its courtroom battles, particularly the dynamic between Arshad Warsi and Saurabh Shukla. The sequel, featuring Akshay Kumar in the lead, while not a complete failure, lacked the charm of the original. ‘Jolly LLB 3’ brings together Warsi and Kumar, evoking a sense of a third wedding where guests are invited solely for entertainment. The film lacks genuine entertainment value. Director Subhash Kapoor demonstrates his understanding of legal settings, but the writing fails to ignite the spark seen in the first film, which mirrored the judiciary’s loopholes that allowed the wealthy to evade justice. The courtroom drama leans heavily on jokes, with scripted humor rather than authentic satire. While the film is more lighthearted than some recent releases, it doesn’t measure up as a worthy sequel. Arshad and Akshay’s comedic talent somewhat redeems the film’s shortcomings, though the humor feels forced. The narrative’s inconsistent tone affects its impact; some parts are funny, others less so. The film isn’t entirely unenjoyable, but the original’s freshness and satirical bite have been diluted. The film attempts to examine legal system issues, but the voice of the common man is lost amid commercial concerns. Fortunately, Saurabh Shukla’s performance as the judge remains a highlight.
