Rajkummar Rao Confirmed to Play Sourav Ganguly in Upcoming Biopic

The long-awaited news is finally official: Rajkummar Rao will portray former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly in an upcoming biopic. The actor confirmed his role in an interview, expressing both excitement and a sense of responsibility. The film is slated for a December 2026 release, with shooting scheduled to begin in January. While the director’s name and official title remain undisclosed, industry sources suggest Vikramaditya Motwane might helm the project. Ganguly himself has expressed satisfaction with the casting, stating his intention to provide full support to the production. Before this biopic, Rao is set to appear in a dark murder comedy directed by Aditya Nimbalkar, currently filming in Mumbai.
