Actor Ram Kapoor has admitted to making sexually inappropriate and unprofessional remarks during a promotional event for his upcoming web series, ‘Mistry.’ The streaming platform JioCinema has removed Kapoor from all promotional activities related to the show following the incident. Reports indicate that Kapoor made offensive comments during a press event at JW Marriott, Juhu, in front of co-star Mona Singh and JioHotstar executives. One particularly controversial remark involved Kapoor’s alleged joke about feeling “gang-raped” in response to media pressure, a comment reportedly made in front of a female journalist. Kapoor has acknowledged the accuracy of the allegations, stating, “I am guilty as charged.” He explained that he often acts in a “bindass” manner when comfortable but recognizes his comments caused discomfort. He noted he was unaware of the negative impact of his words at the time. Kapoor also addressed his comment on a woman’s dress, clarifying he also asked men in his line of sight to move before making the comment. Calling it a major public controversy for him, Kapoor expressed a desire for people to hear his perspective and stated he now understands the need for personal and professional growth. He acknowledged that his actions may be perceived as offensive, especially by those younger than him, and he respects the platform’s decision to remove him from promotions. Kapoor has committed to personally apologizing to everyone who felt hurt, viewing it as a matter of basic human decency. ‘Mistry,’ directed by Risab Seth and starring Ram Kapoor and Mona Singh, is a Hindi adaptation of the series ‘Monk’ and is scheduled to premiere on JioHotstar on June 27.
