Saif Ali Khan Discusses Son Taimur’s Interests and His Own Perspective on Life as He Turns 55

Saif Ali Khan, celebrating his 55th birthday on August 16th, reflects on the evolving ‘new normal.’ His son, Taimur, is adapting remarkably. According to Saif, children’s ability to adjust to challenging situations is heartbreakingly swift. Taimur enjoys playing around the house, an activity that, given their small apartment, requires constant supervision. Saif notes that, unlike some parents, they’ve never had to remove furniture to accommodate Taimur. When asked whether Taimur wants to follow his parents into acting or his grandfather into cricket, Saif reveals that Taimur has no interest in cricket. While his older son, Ebrahim, excels at the sport, Taimur prefers the arts, including drawing, painting, and singing. He also enjoys making faces and currently is fascinated by the idea of being Lord Rama, complete with costumes and a bow and arrow. Regarding the ongoing debate on nepotism, Saif chooses to remain non-committal. He states that he has worked to avoid taking sides, preferring to focus on his work and family. Acknowledging his privilege, he believes the industry is both democratic and meritocratic, but also recognizes the existence of controlling, selfish, and sometimes corrupt influences. At this stage of his life, Saif finds contentment in embracing life, engaging in activities such as cooking, working, spending time with family and friends, and pursuing creative endeavors.
