The TV9 Festival of India has commenced in Delhi, a five-day event featuring numerous performers. A special guest at the festival is singer Shaan, who is scheduled to captivate audiences with his voice at the Lifestyle Expo and Durga Puja celebrations on October 1st. Shaan, known for his popular songs, has made a significant contribution as a playback singer. But do you know that Shaan’s Bollywood singing career began at a very young age?

Born Shantanu Mukherjee in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, on September 30, 1972, Shaan has sung in Hindi, Bengali, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Urdu. He has recorded thousands of songs, including both film tracks and album songs. But have you ever wondered at what age Shaan sang his first song, and for which film? Here’s a look.

Shaan started singing jingles for advertisements at the age of 12. According to reports, Vidhu Vinod Chopra was looking for a voice similar to Shaan’s for a song in his film ‘Parinda’ and found Shaan through an advertisement. In the film ‘Parinda,’ released in 1989, a song titled ‘Kitni Hai Pyari Pyari Dosti Humari’ featured some child artists. The song was sung by Suresh Wadkar, Shailendra Singh, and Sagarika, with Shaan also lending his voice.

While the song didn’t gain widespread popularity, it was recorded in 1988 when Shaan was approximately 15 years old. Later, in 1999, the film ‘Pyar Mein Kabhi Kabhi’ featured the song ‘Musu Musu Hasi Dil Malai Lai,’ which brought Shaan recognition. In 2000, Shaan’s music album ‘Tanha Dil’ was released, and its songs became immensely popular, introducing the industry to a new playback singer in the form of Shaan.

Shaan’s discography includes many popular tracks like ‘Chand Sifarish’, ‘Jab Se Tere Naina’, ‘Hey Shona’, ‘Mai Dil Goz Hummm’, ‘Where’s The Party Tonight’, ‘Char Kadam’, ‘Kuch Toh Hua Hai’, ‘Tune Mujhe Pehchana Nahi’, ‘Yeh Ladki Kyun’, ‘Behti Hawa Sa Tha Woh’, ‘Koi Nahi Hai Kamre Mein’, ‘Koi Kahe Kehta Rahe Kitna Bhi Humko Deewana’, ‘It’s Time To Disco’ and ‘Partner Title Track’.
