A special guest at the festival is singer Shaan, who is scheduled to captivate audiences with his voice at the Lifestyle Expo and Durga Puja celebrations on October 1st. Born Shantanu Mukherjee in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, on September 30, 1972, Shaan has sung in Hindi, Bengali, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Urdu. Shaan started singing jingles for advertisements at the age of 12. According to reports, Vidhu Vinod Chopra was looking for a voice similar to Shaan’s for a song in his film ‘Parinda’ and found Shaan through an advertisement. In the film ‘Parinda,’ released in 1989, a song titled ‘Kitni Hai Pyari Pyari Dosti Humari’ featured some child artists. The song was sung by Suresh Wadkar, Shailendra Singh, and Sagarika, with Shaan also lending his voice.
While the song didn’t gain widespread popularity, it was recorded in 1988 when Shaan was approximately 15 years old. Later, in 1999, the film ‘Pyar Mein Kabhi Kabhi’ featured the song ‘Musu Musu Hasi Dil Malai Lai,’ which brought Shaan recognition. In 2000, Shaan’s music album ‘Tanha Dil’ was released, and its songs became immensely popular, introducing the industry to a new playback singer in the form of Shaan.
