The Indian film industry has been shaped by numerous contributions, including those from actors who initially never envisioned a career in acting. Some faced familial opposition to their aspirations. However, destiny often prevails, and one such actor, who starred in over 140 films, left an indelible mark on cinema. This actor, born in Peshawar, Pakistan, is remembered today on his birth anniversary. His films stand as a testament to his remarkable talent. The actor in question is none other than Vinod Khanna, who delivered powerful performances and captivated audiences. He even gave tough competition to Amitabh Bachchan. Both shared a deep friendship and mutual respect. Khanna began his career in 1968 and starred in films such as ‘Mere Apne’, ‘Mera Gaon Mera Desh’, and ‘Achanak’. He achieved widespread fame in the 1970s with blockbusters like ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ and ‘Muqaddar Ka Sikandar’. Ironically, his own father once aimed a gun at him for pursuing acting.
