The highly anticipated clash between Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s ‘War 2’ and Rajinikanth’s ‘Coolie’ on August 14, 2025, has ignited the box office. Both films, major releases of the year, attracted large audiences and generated impressive revenue, establishing themselves as significant cinematic events. Following a strong first week where both movies surpassed the Rs 200 crore mark, the competition continues into the second weekend, with both blockbusters aiming to break more records.

‘War 2’ saw a strong opening, earning Rs 52 crore on its first day. This momentum continued with Rs 57.85 crore on Day 2. Despite a dip over the weekend, the film still made Rs 33.25 crore on Day 3 and Rs 32.65 crore on Day 4. A sharp decline was observed on Day 5 with Rs 8.75 crore, but the film stabilized with Rs 9 crore on Day 6. Mid-week collections further decreased to Rs 5.75 crore on Day 7 and Rs 5 crore on Day 8, accumulating to Rs 204.25 crore in its first week. Entering the second week, ‘War 2’ earned Rs 4 crore on Day 9 and an estimated Rs 6.25 crore on Day 10.

Early estimates suggest the film earned approximately Rs 6.50 crore on Day 11, bringing the total to Rs 221 crore in eleven days.

‘War 2’, a sequel to the 2019 blockbuster ‘War’, features Hrithik Roshan reprising his role as Agent Kabir and NTR Jr. as Agent Vikram. The film also stars Anil Kapoor and Ashutosh Rana in pivotal roles.

‘Coolie’ opened with a massive Rs 65 crore on its first day. The film maintained a strong performance on Day 2 with Rs 54.75 crore. Over the weekend, collections were Rs 39.5 crore on Day 3 and Rs 35.25 crore on Day 4. A steep drop occurred during the weekdays, earning Rs 12 crore on Day 5, Rs 9.5 crore on Day 6, Rs 7.5 crore on Day 7, and Rs 6.15 crore on Day 8. Despite the weekday drops, ‘Coolie’ closed its first week at Rs 229.65 crore. The second week began with Rs 5.85 crore on Day 9 and a significant increase to Rs 10.5 crore on Day 10.

Early figures indicate that ‘Coolie’ collected Rs 10.75 crore on Day 11, reaching a total of Rs 256.75 crore in eleven days. Despite the weekday drops, the film has achieved substantial commercial success.

The plot of ‘Coolie’ revolves around Deva, a former gold smuggler who becomes a coolie. He seeks to reclaim his past by reviving his old gang using stolen technology hidden in vintage golden watches, which leads to unforeseen consequences.

The cast includes Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Rachita Ram, Reba Monica John, Junior MGR, Kanna Ravi, Monisha Blessy, and Kaali Venkat. Aamir Khan makes a cameo appearance. The film is produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures.
