In a promising sign for public safety, Delhi Police reports a broad reduction in major crimes throughout 2025 compared to 2024. The statistics highlight successes in curbing rape, murder, and related offenses amid robust law enforcement measures.
The most encouraging drop is in rape incidents: 2,141 cases in 2023 gave way to 2,076 in 2024 and a further 1,901 in 2025. An impressive 97.11% detection rate in the latest year reflects sharper focus on gender-based violence.
Other atrocities against women declined steadily from 2,345 (2023) to 2,037 (2024) and 1,708 (2025), with 95% cases resolved. Molestation complaints eased from 381 to 362, then to 337, boasting an 89% clearance.
Murder numbers edged down from 506 in 2023 and 504 in 2024 to 491 in 2025, with police claiming 95.32% solved. Attempt to murder cases, after spiking to 898 in 2024 from 757 in 2023, retreated to 854, with 98.13% solved.
Robbery trends point downward across years: 1,654 (2023), 1,510 (2024), 1,326 (2025)—97% resolved. Extortion fell from 228 to 212 cases. Snatching, a persistent nuisance, dropped dramatically from 7,886 to 6,493, then 5,406, though only 64% were solved.
These figures stem from strategic interventions like increased night policing, women’s safety helplines, and data analytics. Experts credit proactive policing for the shift, but warn that low solve rates in petty crimes like snatching demand attention. Delhi’s safer profile boosts resident confidence, signaling a new era of urban security.
