In a sweeping enforcement drive, Rajasthan police and mining officials have arrested 90 individuals involved in illegal mining over the last 15 days. The operation marks a significant escalation in the battle against the multi-crore illegal trade that’s been draining the state’s mineral wealth.

Teams conducted surprise inspections in hotspots like Nagaur, Bhilwara, and Udaipur, dismantling over two dozen unauthorized sites. Confiscated equipment includes 25 earthmovers and trucks loaded with contraband stone. The value of seized assets is estimated at over Rs 100 crore, dealing a heavy blow to the underworld economy.

Sources reveal that many arrested are repeat offenders with prior records, pointing to organized gangs using sophisticated methods to evade detection. Drones and satellite imagery are now aiding surveillance, making it harder for violators to operate undetected.

The crackdown comes amid mounting pressure from the National Green Tribunal and Supreme Court, which have repeatedly flagged Rajasthan’s mining violations. Chief Minister’s office has allocated additional funds for monitoring and rehabilitation of affected lands.

Residents in mining belts express relief, citing reduced dust pollution and traffic hazards from overloaded vehicles. Industry experts predict this could stabilize legal mining leases by curbing unfair competition. With plans for 24/7 patrols, the state aims to sustain the momentum and recover lost revenue streams.
