The All India Students’ Association (ABVP) has expressed strong support for the Supreme Court’s decision to halt the UGC Regulations 2026, which had sparked nationwide uncertainty in academic circles. Announced from New Delhi, this stay order revives the 2012 framework, averting chaos in university administrations.

Speaking on the matter, ABVP highlighted how the new rules lacked the clarity needed to align with India’s constitutional commitment to equality. The organization’s earlier statements had flagged these issues, demanding balanced guidelines that promote harmony rather than division.

This judicial pause is seen as a safeguard against confusion that could erode campus unity. ABVP insists that educational environments should embody democratic ideals, free from bias and fostering equal opportunities for all.

National General Secretary Dr. Virendra Singh Solanki termed the order ‘a step in the right direction.’ He noted, ‘Clarity in UGC norms is essential to avoid student discontent. The court’s action creates space for meaningful consultations.’ ABVP appeals to everyone involved to prioritize restraint, brotherhood, and nation-building through rational discourse.

Looking ahead, this development signals a need for thorough review of regulatory proposals. Stakeholders must collaborate to craft policies that strengthen India’s education system while honoring its pluralistic ethos.
