Union Home Minister Amit Shah met with key officers in Delhi who were instrumental in the recent anti-Naxal operations in Chhattisgarh. He lauded their efforts and congratulated them on the significant success achieved. Shah emphasized the government’s commitment to eradicating Naxalism from India.

The security forces, under the guidance of the Home Minister, conducted operations in Chhattisgarh. One such operation, carried out by the Chhattisgarh Police (including DRG units from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Kondagaon, and Bijapur districts) in the Abujhmad area from May 18 to May 21, resulted in a major success. A May 21 encounter in Boter village forests led to the elimination of 27 Naxals, including CPI (Maoist) General Secretary Basavaraju alias Gaganna, and the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition.

Among the officers honored were Chhattisgarh Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Additional Director General of Police Vivekanand, Inspector General of Police Sundarraj, and Superintendents of Police Prabhat Kumar, Jitendra Yadav, and Shalabh Singh. The meeting was also attended by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sharma, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, and Director of the Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka.
