Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah convened a meeting in Delhi with officers who played a pivotal role in the recent anti-Naxal operations conducted in Chhattisgarh. He extended his congratulations on the historic success of these operations. Shah emphasized the Modi government’s commitment to eradicating Naxalism from India.

In a statement on Saturday, the Union Home Minister announced his eagerness to meet the brave jawans whose courage ensured the success of these operations, and indicated a forthcoming visit to Chhattisgarh for this purpose. These anti-Naxal operations have been carried out by security forces in Chhattisgarh under the guidance of the Union Home Minister.

A significant operation, led by the Chhattisgarh Police, including DRG units from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Kondagaon, and Bijapur districts, took place in the interior areas of Abujhmad from May 18 to May 21. This resulted in an encounter in the forests of Boter village on May 21, leading to the elimination of 27 Naxals, including CPI (Maoist) General Secretary and Polit Bureau member Basavaraju alias Gaganna. Substantial quantities of arms and ammunition were also recovered.

Among the officers honored by Amit Shah were Chhattisgarh Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Additional Director General of Police (Anti-Naxal Operations/SIB/STF) Vivekanand, Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) Sundarraj, Superintendents of Police Prabhat Kumar, Jitendra Yadav, and Shalabh Singh. The event saw the presence of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sharma, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Director of the Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka, along with several other senior officials.
