Union Home Minister Amit Shah touched down in Dibrugarh, Assam, on Wednesday evening, received by a high-profile welcome from Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and BJP stalwarts. This two-day visit packs in infrastructure unveilings, research advancements, and immersion in tribal traditions.

Day one dawns with the grand opening of Assam Assembly’s second complex, featuring the spanking new MLA Hostel. Known as Vidhayak Bhawan, it offers lawmakers upgraded accommodations and workspaces, poised to elevate the state’s legislative operations to new heights.

Next on the agenda, Shah lays the cornerstone for a pioneering Wildlife Health and Research Institute. Targeting wildlife ailments, animal healthcare, and research breakthroughs, it addresses Assam’s unique biodiversity challenges head-on, fortifying protection mechanisms for its fragile ecosystems.

Dibrugarh’s sporting landscape gets a major upgrade with the inauguration of Khanikar Stadium. This contemporary arena, laden with advanced facilities, aims to ignite passion for sports across upper Assam, empowering youth and promoting healthy lifestyles.

Venturing into Dhemaji, Shah joins the 10th edition of the Missing Cultural Festival at Kareng Chapori. A celebration of Mising tribe’s folk songs, dances, customs, and ancestral legacy, the event gains national spotlight with his presence, reinforcing Delhi’s push for Northeast cultural preservation.

CM Sarma shared his enthusiasm online: ‘Feeling privileged to receive Amit Shah ji at Dibrugarh. This journey signifies pivotal steps in Upper Assam’s growth, administration, and cultural events. Assam anticipates his visionary leadership and steadfast backing.’

Shah’s itinerary exemplifies a strategic fusion of modernization and cultural reverence, setting benchmarks for regional development while honoring indigenous roots.
