Anmol Bishnoi, a key figure wanted in India for his alleged involvement in the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddiqui and other serious crimes, is set to arrive in New Delhi on Wednesday. He is being extradited from the United States as part of a significant repatriation effort. A flight carrying Bishnoi, along with 199 other deportees, departed the US and is expected to land at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Bishnoi, the brother of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, is a person of interest in multiple investigations across India. His alleged connections extend to the killing of Baba Siddiqui and the 2024 firing incident outside actor Salman Khan’s residence. Intelligence suggests Bishnoi left India in April 2022 under a forged passport, shortly before the high-profile assassination of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.

The extradition was a collaborative effort involving multiple Indian agencies. The Mumbai Police had previously submitted requests for his extradition. With cases pending in various states, the central government will determine which jurisdiction takes immediate custody. Bishnoi was reportedly detained in Canada earlier this month and had also been held in the US last November. The National Investigation Agency had placed a reward of Rs 10 lakh for information leading to his arrest.

Investigations into the murder of Baba Siddiqui and the Sidhu Moosewala case have implicated Anmol Bishnoi. Zeeshan Siddique, son of the slain NCP leader, confirmed that Anmol Bishnoi had been removed from US territory, signaling his impending arrival to face trial in India. Baba Siddiqui was fatally shot outside Zeeshan’s office in October 2024, leading to numerous arrests, including members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The Mumbai Police had invoked the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) in connection with the case, listing Bishnoi as a wanted accused.
