A man was apprehended in Roorkee Cantonment, Uttarakhand, for impersonating an Indian Army officer. The suspect, identified as Surendra Kumar from Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu district, was detained near the MES gate. Army intelligence tipped off local police and other intelligence units, leading to a joint operation that resulted in his arrest. Kumar was found in an Army uniform and was in possession of suspicious items, including 18 debit cards, a forged Army ID, a fake joining letter, and a nameplate. Authorities have confirmed he is not affiliated with the armed forces. The investigation is focusing on his motives and potential connections to any larger schemes. This incident follows a similar case in September where a woman in Sambhajinagar was arrested for posing as a retired Army officer and attending events in uniform, highlighting a concerning trend of individuals misrepresenting military service for personal gain.
