Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar announced that the upcoming elections in Bihar will take place before November 22, 2025, the date when the current State Assembly’s term concludes. Kumar highlighted that Bihar comprises 243 assembly constituencies, including two reserved for Scheduled Tribes (STs) and 38 for Scheduled Castes (SCs). During a press conference in Patna, CEC Kumar emphasized the Election Commission’s efforts, including the training of booth-level officers and the successful completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) launched on June 24, 2025. Kumar commended the voters of Bihar for their participation in the SIR process and urged them to view voting as an essential element of democracy, akin to the enthusiasm seen during the Chhath festival. He also praised the dedication of Bihar’s booth-level officers, specifically the 90,217 officers, for their exemplary work in purifying the voter list. The Election Commission officials were in the state for a two-day review visit. The upcoming election is anticipated to be a direct contest between the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and the Mahagathbandhan, spearheaded by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
