The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is poised for a commanding victory in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president expressing strong confidence in securing an overwhelming two-thirds majority. This optimism comes as the BJP, a key NDA constituent, anticipates a significant mandate from the electorate in the state’s 243-seat legislative assembly.
The election, scheduled in two phases on November 6 and November 11, with results to be declared on November 14, is witnessing intense campaigning. The BJP leader also subtly criticized the opposition Mahagathbandhan for its apparent delay in finalizing seat-sharing agreements and announcing candidate lists. He highlighted the NDA’s promptness in finalizing their arrangements, emphasizing transparency and efficient coordination within the alliance.
“All parties have discussed seat sharing and constituencies. After these discussions, each party is now announcing its candidates… We were the first to share information about our seat-sharing arrangements. We have announced our initial list of candidates, with more to follow soon… There is no problem anywhere. Currently, I am heading to the JDU office, where we will further discuss this matter… As of now, Mahagathbandhan has neither provided the correct figures about their seat sharing nor announced their candidates… NDA will win with a two-thirds majority,” he stated, underscoring the alliance’s preparedness and the perceived disarray of their opponents.
The Janata Dal (United) (JDU), another major partner in the NDA, has already released its first list of 57 candidates for the initial phase of polling, following approval by party chief Nitish Kumar. Notable selections include Umesh Khushwaha for Mahanar and Shravan Kumar for Nalanda. The BJP, on its part, has unveiled its initial list of 71 candidates. The NDA’s seat distribution strategy allocates 101 seats each to the BJP and JDU, with the Lok Janshakti Party contesting 29 seats. Smaller allies, the Rashtriya Lok Morcha and Hindustani Awam Morcha, will compete for six seats each, showcasing a unified front ahead of the crucial electoral battle in Bihar.
