In response to a surge in cybercrimes, the Bihar government has launched a comprehensive cyber audit across all government departments and installations. The Economic Offence Unit (EOU) has been designated as the nodal agency to oversee cyber security at the state level. This initiative aims to address the growing threat of cyberattacks, which have targeted government websites, online services, and critical infrastructure. The audit will evaluate online activities, ensuring adherence to cyber security standards. The government is collaborating with agencies like C-DAC and I4C to conduct the audit, identify vulnerabilities, and implement remedial measures. Recent incidents, including system failures at AIIMS Patna and attacks on websites like Smart City and Dial 112, have highlighted the urgent need for this security overhaul. The EOU is also focused on combating cybercrime and taking swift action against cybercriminals.
