Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to dedicate another bridge over the Ganges River in Bihar to the public on August 22nd. A bridge was initially constructed in 1959 to connect North and South Bihar. Following that, the NHAI has now built a new bridge. Construction of this bridge began in 2018 and was completed in May 2025. Trials on the bridge have been ongoing since May, and all tests have been completed, making it fully ready for use.

On August 22, 2025, the Prime Minister will dedicate the Aunta-Simaria project to the nation, which includes the 1.8-kilometer-long bridge over the Ganges. This bridge will provide direct connectivity between Mokama in Patna district and Begusarai, saving time for road travelers. The bridge is built parallel to the old 2-lane rail-cum-road bridge, ‘Rajendra Setu.’ The nearly 70-year-old Rajendra Setu is currently undergoing repairs, leading to the restriction of heavy vehicles on this bridge. These vehicles have been forced to travel a long, circuitous route.
