Approximately 22,000 newly appointed constables in Bihar took an oath on Saturday, promising to abstain from alcohol for life. The recruits received their appointment letters from Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during a ceremony. The new constables also pledged to strictly enforce the state’s prohibition laws. The event, held at Bapu Sabhagar in Patna, was a significant one, especially with upcoming elections in the state. Kumar had previously announced the event on his social media handle, X. The recruitment drive is part of the government’s efforts to strengthen law and order in Bihar. The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of a robust legal system and mentioned the continuous recruitment of police personnel to achieve this goal. He noted that the number of police personnel has been steadily increasing since 2006, with the government aiming to fill over 229,000 positions by the end of the year. This initiative is expected to help control crime, increase police presence in both rural and urban areas, and ensure better security for citizens.
