Political parties are gearing up for the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, formulating strategies from seat-sharing to the booth level. Sources indicate that the NDA has nearly completed its homework on ticket distribution. A survey of caste equations in each constituency has been conducted, determining the caste of candidates to be fielded. The focus is on accommodating caste dynamics. The current sitting MLAs are likely to retain their seats, with the potential for some incumbents to lose their tickets based on surveys and performance. Negative reports from two consecutive surveys could lead to ticket cancellations. Further discussions on seat allocation will take place in Bihar before a final review in Delhi.

Meanwhile, Chirag Paswan, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief and Union Minister, has announced his candidacy for the Bihar assembly elections, ending speculation about his return to state politics. He declared that he will contest from a seat chosen by the people. Paswan clarified that his decision is not driven by a desire to become Chief Minister, but to ensure a better strike rate for his party and aid the NDA. He aims to help the NDA win the election with a large margin. This announcement is seen as a move to gain political advantage for his party before seat-sharing talks with the NDA allies, where the BJP and JD(U) are eyeing over 100 seats each. Paswan’s party is reportedly seeking 40 seats, citing its 100% strike rate in the last Lok Sabha elections.
