The Election Commission of India (ECI) is optimistic about completing Bihar’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise by the July 25 deadline. As of July 8, the ECI reported that nearly 47% of Enumeration Forms have been collected within two weeks of the drive’s commencement on June 24. According to data released by the ECI, 3.70 crore forms have been collected out of a target of 7.90 crore electors. Over 97% of the 7.9 crore forms printed have been distributed. The election authority is optimistic that Enumeration Forms, accompanied by the eligibility documents specified in the SIR order, will be submitted before the deadline.

To expedite the process, 20,603 additional Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been deployed, increasing the total to 77,895 BLOs. These officers have completed one round of household visits and have started the second round. Approximately 4 lakh volunteers are assisting elderly individuals, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups. The entire election team is fully mobilized, with electoral officers working across all 243 Assembly constituencies.

District Presidents of all recognized political parties have also stepped up the appointment of BLAs, and they are actively participating on the ground. As of the date, 1,56,626 BLAs have been appointed, up from 1,38,680 at the beginning of the exercise.
