Patna Police have solved the case of the threat made to Rajya Sabha MP and Rashtriya Lok Morcha chief Upendra Kushwaha in the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The police have arrested the individual who issued the threat. The arrest followed a significant operation conducted by Patna Police on Saturday, addressing the death threat issued to the Rajya Sabha MP and RLM chief. The suspect, identified as Rakesh Kumar, a resident of Siwan district, Bihar, was apprehended. The mobile phone used to make the threatening calls was also recovered from the accused.

Rakesh Kumar, the accused, revealed during police interrogation that he is a member of Upendra Kushwaha’s own party. He stated that his actions stemmed from discontent with the party leadership. Rakesh had called Kushwaha, posing as a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, and threatened to kill him within 10 days. This caused a sensation in political circles. Upendra Kushwaha himself shared the information on X.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Patna, Kartikeya Sharma, stated that the police launched an immediate investigation after receiving the threatening calls and messages. The accused’s mobile number was traced with the help of technical surveillance, leading to his arrest. The police are now investigating whether the accused has any links to an organized gang. MP Upendra Kushwaha had shared information about the threat on social media, requesting action from security agencies. He wrote that dissent and criticism have a place in a democratic system, but such criminal threats are condemnable and unacceptable.
