A shooting incident stemming from a land dispute has occurred in the Munger district of Bihar. Two groups clashed over a land dispute, resulting in approximately 50 rounds of gunfire. One person was injured in the shooting. The conflict arose over the illegal occupation of land.

In protest of the incident, local residents blocked the road connecting Munger to Lakhisarai. The police are investigating the matter.

According to reports, the conflict began on Saturday over a wall at a cemetery. The dispute escalated into stone-pelting, followed by gunfire. The land in question belongs to Dashrath Manjhi, near the Harda petrol pump, and is being encroached upon by a person named Bablu Malik. This land dispute has been ongoing for the past 25 years and is also under court consideration.

Two days prior to the incident, Bablu Malik was advised by the local Satyavati police not to construct a wall on the disputed land, as the matter was in court. However, Malik proceeded with the construction. When locals protested, the firing began. Several rounds were fired to assert dominance. People were seen trying to escape the gunfire in the middle of the road. Ankush was shot during the firing.

Ankush’s family stated that he works as a laborer in another state. He had just arrived from Delhi on Saturday and was shot while returning home after bathing in the Ganga River near his village. He was shot in his left leg and was immediately admitted to the hospital. Local residents blocked the National Highway connecting Munger to Lakhisarai in protest. Doctors have reported that the bullet entered near the knee of his left leg and exited after piercing the bone. The youth’s condition is reported to be serious.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the police took action. SP Syed Imran Masood arrived at the scene with a large police force. The SP stated that a dispute occurred between two communities over the boundary of the cemetery, and shots were fired. 22 people from both sides have been arrested. The situation is currently under control. Identification of other individuals is underway through video footage.
