A comprehensive review meeting was held in Bihar to assess the preparations for the upcoming assembly elections. The meeting, chaired by the Chief Secretary of the Bihar government, Amrit Lal Meena, involved officials from the Bhagalpur and Munger divisions. The meeting took place in the auditorium of the main secretariat on Thursday, with detailed discussions on various crucial aspects of the election. District Magistrates, Superintendents of Police, and other relevant officers from both divisions presented detailed reports on election readiness. The reports covered the status of polling stations, security arrangements, updates to the voter list, and the adherence to the Model Code of Conduct.

During the meeting, the Chief Secretary instructed the officials to aim for zero poll boycott in this election. He also emphasized the urgency, given the limited time remaining before the assembly elections, and urged all officers to be vigilant in their duties. He directed the commencement of vehicle checks at various times in the districts and the activation of border check posts. Police Superintendents were instructed to verify arms holders at their homes.

Chief Electoral Officer Vinod Singh Gunjial stressed the importance of extensive publicity and outreach. He directed the BLOs (Booth Level Officers) to promptly collect and submit house-to-house survey forms. He also emphasized the need for publicity in urban areas, including using jingles on garbage trucks to promote voter awareness. Campaigns should be launched at all levels to encourage voter participation.

Director General of Police (DGP) Vinay Kumar directed the creation of a list of criminals, including history-sheeters, notorious offenders, and absconders. He also instructed for the timely completion of arms act cases and emphasized focusing on speedy trial matters. All police stations were directed to remain fully alert during the elections, with all SPs asked to ensure heightened security vigilance.
