Husband Murders Wife, Dumps Body in River in Bihar; Fabricates Suicide Story

In a shocking case from Bhagalpur, Bihar, a man brutally murdered his wife and disposed of her body in the Ganga River. The incident, which also involved the man’s family, was initially masked with a fabricated suicide narrative. Police have arrested the husband and are conducting further investigation. The crime occurred in the Bihpur police station area of ​​Navgachia, at BhabanGama. During interrogation, the accused husband confessed that a domestic dispute led to a physical altercation, resulting in his wife’s death. To conceal the crime, he and his family members put her body in a sack and discarded it in the Ganga. Police recovered the body with the help of divers and sent it for a post-mortem examination. The arrested individuals include the husband, Gautam Yadav, the deceased’s mother-in-law, Janki Devi, and father-in-law, Vasudev Yadav. The incident was brought to light by Navgachia SP Prerna Kumar, who revealed that the domestic quarrel escalated into a physical fight, causing the woman’s death. The husband and in-laws subsequently disposed of the body in the Ganga and fled the scene. Upon receiving information, a police team led by SDPO Omprakash apprehended the husband from BhabanGama, and the body was recovered based on his disclosure. Three individuals have been arrested, while a police search is underway to apprehend other suspects. According to SP Prerna Kumar, on June 16th, the woman’s father reported that his daughter had been murdered by her husband and in-laws, and that her body was missing. A case was registered, and an SIT was formed to investigate. Vasudev Yadav and Janki Devi were arrested within hours of the incident. Gautam Yadav attempted to mislead the police by spreading a false rumor that his wife had committed suicide. He informed the family of the deceased that she had taken her own life, but the in-laws had already fled. The police registered a case of murder for dowry based on the family’s written complaint.
