Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the newly constructed 6-lane Ganga bridge between Aunta (Mokama) and Simaria (Begusarai) in Bihar. The total length of this project is 8.150 kilometers, with the bridge itself spanning 1.865 kilometers. Following the inauguration, PM Modi and CM Nitish Kumar inspected the new bridge. A grand cultural program was organized to welcome PM Modi. A large crowd gathered near the 6-lane bridge to warmly welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who acknowledged the greetings by waving to the crowd.

During the event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also conducted a roadshow. Thousands of people lined the streets, chanting slogans in support of PM Modi and CM Nitish Kumar. The 6-lane bridge, constructed parallel to the Rajendra Setu, was built at a cost of 1871 crore rupees.

This world-class Ganga bridge provides modern road connectivity to North and South Bihar. Previously, heavy vehicles had to travel an extra 100 kilometers due to the closure of the old, dilapidated Rajendra Setu. Now, this journey is reduced to only 8 kilometers, saving time and fuel. This will also reduce logistics costs.

Local industries will receive a boost from reduced logistics costs. This will improve road connectivity for districts in North Bihar such as Supaul, Madhubani, Araria, and Begusarai with districts in South Bihar like Shekhpura, Nawada, and Lakhisarai. Local industries, including the Indian Oil Corporation Limited Refinery, Barauni Thermal Power Station, Barauni Sudha Dairy, and Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited, will gain strength. The bridge will facilitate easier access to major markets for local agricultural products and produce, including Makhana, bananas, milk, and maize, promoting economic activities and creating new employment opportunities.
