Political activity in Bihar is intensifying ahead of the upcoming elections. Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor revealed his potential constituencies if he chooses to contest. Kishor stated he might run for the Bihar assembly elections from either Kargahar, his birthplace, or Raghopur, the seat currently held by RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. Kishor made this announcement while responding to media queries in Karakat, approximately 120 km from the capital. The media inquired about an interview where he expressed his desire to contest. Kishor clarified that he hadn’t made any formal declaration. He said that discussions are ongoing within the party, and if a collective decision is made for him to enter the electoral fray, he might contest from Kargahar or Raghopur, as he mentioned in the interview. Kishor stated that Kargahar, falling under the Sasaram Lok Sabha constituency in Rohtas district, is his “birthplace,” while Raghopur is his “karmabhoomi” (workplace), like the rest of Bihar. The former political strategist has, for some time, expressed his interest in contesting from Raghopur. Raghopur is in the Vaishali district and part of the Hajipur Lok Sabha constituency, currently represented by Union Minister Chirag Paswan. Tejashwi Yadav of the RJD has won this seat twice, in 2015 and 2020. His father, RJD president Lalu Prasad, previously contested from here. Kishor also commented on a viral social media video showing Tejashwi Yadav celebrating the success of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Voter Rights Yatra. The yatra covered 25 districts and traveled over 1,300 kilometers. Kishor remarked that the video proved that Tejashwi Yadav, who failed in studies and cricket, is also failing to organize a small event. Kishor had previously worked for the RJD, JDU, and Congress alliance in the 2015 assembly elections. Regarding the Bihar bandh called by the NDA in response to the use of offensive language against PM Modi’s deceased mother, Kishor stated it was a bandh called by the leaders, and the public would not support it. He contrasted this with the recent Jan Suraaj Party meetings, claiming that both would have at least 20,000 attendees. Upon being told that state BJP president Dilip Jaiswal—whom he has been continuously targeting regarding alleged irregularities in medical colleges—broke down in tears expressing grief over the language used against Modi’s mother, Prashant Kishor laughed. He added that Jaiswal should have used the opportunity to state his stance on the allegations. Kishor added that he is set to release further evidence against Jaiswal and other Bihar leaders whose wrongdoings he has been exposing. Jan Suraaj Party recently leveled serious allegations against BJP leaders Dilip Jaiswal, Health Minister Mangal Pandey, West Champaran MP Sanjay Jaiswal, and JDU Rural Works Minister Ashok Chaudhary.
