A fresh political storm has engulfed Bihar following sharp accusations by RJD stalwart and ex-CM Rabri Devi over the mysterious death of a NEET student. In a blistering attack during legislative protests, she charged the ruling dispensation with orchestrating a cover-up to protect a minister’s offspring in the high-profile case.

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary responded with a no-nonsense challenge, urging Rabri to furnish concrete evidence or brace for swift repercussions within 24 hours. The exchange has amplified tensions in the state assembly, highlighting fissures between NDA and opposition camps.

Recapping the incident, the 20-something aspirant from Jehanabad was discovered unresponsive in Chitrgupt Nagar hostel, Patna, last month. Despite medical interventions, she breathed her last on January 11, fueling suspicions of foul play. Rabri Devi, addressing Opposition MLAs, lambasted the government for dodging accountability and diverting the probe to CBI—a move she branded as futile given its central oversight.

“The government is shielding culprits because they are insiders,” Rabri asserted, decrying pervasive crime across Bihar districts and the home minister’s reticence. Her rhetoric painted a grim picture of lawlessness under Nitish Kumar’s watch.

Choudhary countered aggressively, vowing rigorous action irrespective of the accused’s stature. “We’re prioritizing daughters’ security; baseless smears won’t deter us,” he stated. Deputy CM Vijay Sinha’s visit to the bereaved family underscored official empathy amid the uproar.

JDU’s Neeraj Kumar dismissed Rabri’s outburst as publicity stunts, insisting Bihar’s administration upholds justice without favoritism. With SIT probing on-ground leads and CBI recommendation in play, the saga promises more revelations.

This episode not only spotlights student safety concerns in coaching hubs but also signals escalating pre-election skirmishes in Bihar’s volatile political landscape.
