As part of his Voter Rights Yatra in Bihar, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was scheduled to stay overnight in Darbhanga on August 26th. The initial plan involved utilizing the Jeevachghat High School premises for the night’s rest, but the district administration denied permission. The administration cited the school’s function as an educational institution and the potential disruption to studies as the reason for the denial. Consequently, the overnight stay has been relocated to the Fakhruddin Teacher Training College campus.

Permission was required from the Social Welfare Department for the new location, but due to the lack of approval from the department, the venue was shifted to the Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Teachers Training College campus. Dr. Madan Mohan Jha, a Congress leader, confirmed the change, stating that the yatra would arrive in Darbhanga on the evening of August 26th as originally planned, including the overnight stay.

Rahul Gandhi’s arrival in Darbhanga is scheduled for 7 p.m. on August 26th. The overnight stay will be at the Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Teachers Training College campus near NH-27 in Darbhanga. The Voter Rights Yatra will resume from there on the morning of August 27th. The yatra will then proceed to Muzaffarpur via the NH-27 route, passing through various locations including Gausaghat, Gangwara, Kathalbari, Bhandar Chowk, Bela Mod, Bagh Mod, Kadirabad Shivdhara, and the Bazaar Samiti.

Former Congress President and program in-charge Madan Mohan Jha explained that the program was initially proposed at Jeevachghat School, but administrative permission was not granted. The administration cited potential disruption to school activities. The program will now be held at the Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Teachers Training College campus, located near Jeevachghat, and the adjacent vacant land.

It is expected that Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will participate in the Voter Rights Yatra. Her schedule is confirmed for Darbhanga. Her schedule will be shared a day prior to the visit. On August 27th, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin may also join the yatra.

The Voter Rights Yatra began on August 17th in Rohtas, Bihar, initiated by Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and a Congress leader. The aim of the yatra is to raise awareness against alleged vote theft and to ensure a clean voter list. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and VIP chief Mukesh Sahni are also participating in the yatra with Rahul. During the yatra, Rahul Gandhi has been criticizing the central government and the Election Commission. The yatra will conclude on September 1st with a grand alliance rally at Gandhi Maidan in Patna.
