Bhagalpur’s Sultanpur is poised for a spiritual renaissance with Bihar’s first Shiv Corridor project now cleared for takeoff. The resolution of a protracted land exchange tussle between the railways and local administration marks a turning point, accelerating plans for what could rival Kashi Vishwanath in grandeur.
Under the agreement, the district will hand over approximately 17.5 acres of prime land in Jagadishpur, Barari, and Sultanpur to the railways. This strategic swap unlocks the corridor site, with formal transfer documents already dispatched to state revenue authorities for endorsement.
Beyond the corridor, infrastructure upgrades include rerouting the Ganga to the traditional ghat steps, ensuring smoother pilgrim flow. Handled by water resource experts, this complementary initiative will amplify the site’s sanctity and convenience.
The transformation extends to tourism and commerce. Pilgrims will enjoy world-class facilities, safe pathways, and organized worship spaces. Businesses in the vicinity anticipate a surge in visitors, fostering employment and sustained economic growth. Sultanpur’s evolution into a top-tier faith destination underscores Bihar’s commitment to heritage preservation amid modern development.
