Ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar, a political storm has erupted over the voter list. The Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) held a joint press conference, leveling serious allegations against the central government led by the BJP and the Election Commission. Tejashwi Yadav, a prominent leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and former Deputy Chief Minister, alleged that the BJP is systematically trying to eliminate the voting rights of the poor and marginalized sections of society. He stated that a delegation from the India alliance would visit the Election Commission to submit a memorandum regarding the issue.
Tejashwi Yadav claimed that the Election Commission in Bihar is in the process of replacing the existing voter list of 8 crore voters with a new one. He called it a dangerous conspiracy, asserting that the BJP, seeing its defeat in Bihar, is undermining the democratic process. He accused the BJP of attempting to remove the names of the poor, laborers, and Dalits from the voter list.
Tejashwi Yadav also targeted Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing them of being afraid and preparing to dismantle democracy in Bihar. He alleged that all this is happening at the behest of the BJP to weaken the opposition’s vote bank.
