As Bihar gears up for the 2025 Assembly elections, concerns have been raised regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) Electoral Roll. Allegations of irregularities, including the inclusion of deceased individuals and the omission of living citizens, have surfaced. In a recent development, Tejashwi Yadav, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) CM candidate and son of party chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, claimed his name was missing from the Election Commission’s draft voter list. He stated that he had filled out the enumeration form during the special revision. Janata Dal (United) responded, accusing Tejashwi of misleading the public. Addressing a press conference, Tejashwi stated, “My name is not there in the electoral roll. How will I contest the elections?” He also mentioned that despite entering his EPIC number (Elector’s Photo Identification Card), his information was not found in the system. The Patna district administration clarified that his name is registered, but his polling station and serial number had been changed. Tejashwi questioned the extent of these changes, alleging a conspiracy to remove names from the voter list. JDU’s chief spokesperson, Neeraj Kumar, labeled Tejashwi a “political fraud.” The Election Commission refuted the claim, stating that Tejashwi’s name is listed in the draft electoral roll. The matter adds to the political tension in Bihar. The draft electoral roll has gone live, with a minority of applicants submitting necessary documents.
