Addressing the ‘Save Waqf-Save Constitution’ protest organized by Imarat-e-Sharia at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav made a strong statement. He declared that the country does not belong to anyone in particular, but to all of us. Addressing a large crowd of Muslims who had gathered to protest against the Waqf Amendment Act 2025, Tejashwi said that not only is there an attempt to seize Waqf properties, but also an effort to snatch the voting rights of Muslims, along with backward classes and Dalits.

Tejashwi Yadav stated that attempts are being made to divide the country, but we are here. He said that the current situation, and this bill, needs to be opposed. He said that a notification from the Election Commission has come. 8 crore people will have to submit their documents again to be included in the list, but we are here. He said that people of all religions have sacrificed for the making of this country.

Tejashwi Yadav announced that the law would not be implemented in Bihar if his government is formed. Meanwhile, AIMIM’s Akhtarul Iman termed it a conspiracy against minorities. The opposition alleges that this law curtails the independence of the Waqf Board and gives more powers to the district magistrates. However, the central government says that this law is meant to bring transparency, women’s participation, and prevent the misuse of Waqf properties. The Supreme Court is hearing the validity of this and the decision has been reserved.

During the event, Tejashwi Yadav narrowly escaped an incident at Gandhi Maidan. As Tejashwi was about to begin his speech, a drone came close to his face. Tejashwi immediately ducked, and a young man standing nearby knocked it down. Tejashwi was momentarily discomfited, but everything returned to normal quickly.
