A Mithila painting training center was inaugurated at Pokhar Bhawan near Rajapur Pul, Mainpura, Patna, under the Department of Labor Resources, courtesy of the Bihar Skill Development Mission. The center aims to train youths, especially women, and connect them with employment and self-employment opportunities. This initiative marks a significant step towards promoting the state’s traditional folk arts and providing skill-based employment opportunities to local youth. The training program focuses on equipping individuals with the skills to excel in Mithila painting, a rich and traditional folk art. The goal is to enable them to not only refine their artistic abilities but also transform their skills into a source of income. This endeavor will contribute to the preservation of the state’s cultural heritage while fostering economic empowerment. The program emphasizes increasing the participation of women and making them self-reliant. Trainees will receive free training, essential materials, and technical support to help them start their own businesses or find employment in government and private projects. The department plans to launch similar training programs in other local arts in the future.
