In Patna, Bihar, the police encountered notorious criminal Vijay Sahani. The encounter occurred near the Biscomaun Golambar in the Alamganj police station area on Sunday night. The criminal was shot in the left leg. He was taken to a hospital for treatment. The police recovered two weapons from the criminal.
The police stated that the accused resided in Asochak, under the Ramkrishna Nagar police station area. They received information that he was planning to commit two major crimes. Following the information, a team from Alamganj, Malsalami, and the STF arrested the accused. During interrogation, Vijay told the police that he had hidden weapons in a sack near the Biscomaun Golambar in the Alamganj police station area.
Subsequently, the police took him there. Upon arrival, he retrieved the weapons from the sack, using the pretext of recovering them, and opened fire on the police, prompting the police to retaliate in self-defense. During the exchange, the accused was shot in the leg and fell to the ground.
Patna SSP Kartikeya Sharma, City SP Parichay Kumar, and DSP Rajkishore Singh reached the spot and investigated the matter. The SSP said that more than 20 criminal cases are registered against Vijay Sahani, who was injured by the police’s gunfire. The accused is a criminal involved in serious cases like murder, robbery, and dacoity. Sources indicate that the police were searching for Vijay Sahani in connection with several criminal cases. According to the SSP, the injured accused took contracts to commit murders. He had also established himself as a shooter in Odisha and Jharkhand.
