Border Security Force (BSF) troops in West Bengal have intercepted a significant smuggling operation, apprehending an Indian national with 20 gold biscuits valued at approximately Rs 2.82 crore. The successful operation occurred on the India-Bangladesh international border near the Horandipur Border Outpost (BOP).

Acting on specific intelligence, the 32 Battalion of the South Bengal Frontier BSF set up an ambush. Sources indicated that a smuggler from Muslimpara village planned to move illegal gold, originating from Bangladesh, through the Horandipur area. The intelligence was received on the night of October 11.

Early on October 12, vigilant BSF personnel on duty at the Horandipur BOP observed a suspicious individual moving discreetly near a dense bamboo grove. The ambush party swiftly surrounded and apprehended the suspect. A thorough search led to the recovery of a plastic packet containing 20 gold biscuits, weighing a substantial 2332.66 grams.

The apprehended smuggler and the valuable gold consignment have been transferred to the relevant authorities to facilitate further investigation and legal proceedings. This bust highlights the ongoing efforts to combat cross-border illegal activities.
