Amid swirling global uncertainties, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh delivered a powerful motivational speech to NCC cadets gathered for the Republic Day Camp at Delhi Cantt. He implored the youth of India to emulate the brave NCC volunteers who shone during Operation Sindoor through mock drills across the country, bolstering national awareness and solidarity with the armed forces.

Labeling NCC as India’s vital secondary defense shield, Singh recounted the triumph of Operation Sindoor. Indian troops, with remarkable valor and discipline, eliminated terrorists hiding in Pakistan and PoK – a fitting response to the barbaric Pahalgam assault. ‘We struck only those who harmed us,’ he affirmed, crediting their physical, mental, and emotional fortitude.

In vivid imagery, Singh likened today’s youth to Mahabharata’s Abhimanyu, equipped to navigate and vanquish any battlefield trap. With expectations soaring in this transformative era, he rallied them to join hands in PM Modi’s ambitious drive for Viksit Bharat by 2047, underscoring their role as bearers of the nation’s future.

Praising NCC’s transformative power, the minister contrasted the modern world’s lure of instant comforts – from food deliveries to gaming – with the discipline instilled by drills and camps. These experiences build mental toughness, disaster-ready skills, and unwavering focus, helping cadets conquer distractions and thrive in any career path.

Singh emphasized adaptability, urging preparation of Plan B and C alongside Plan A to avert despair. ‘Rain today means sunshine tomorrow,’ he quipped, advocating a strategic, soldierly approach to life’s hurdles. NCC alumni, including war heroes like Captains Pandey and Batra, PM Modi, and countless leaders across sectors, exemplify its impact – from 1965-71 wars to today’s achievements.

As Republic Day approaches, Singh reflected on the Constitution as a living guide for societal duties and rights, calling NCC cadets to champion its ideals. The ceremony culminated in awards: medals to Arpunn Deep Kaur and Paldon Lepcha; certificates to Leisha Dejappa Suvarna, Pawan Bhaghel, Radha Dorji, and Prince Singh Rana.

A crisp Guard of Honour, dazzling band from Scindia School Gwalior, insightful flag displays on awareness campaigns, and vibrant cultural shows rounded off the event, attended by Lt Gen Virendra Vats and dignitaries.
