The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) successfully coordinated the return of Kubbawala Mustafa from the UAE using INTERPOL channels. Mustafa was a wanted individual by the Mumbai Police.

The International Police Cooperation Unit (IPCU) of the CBI, in partnership with NCB-Abu Dhabi, brought back Kubbawala Mustafa, who was the subject of a Red Notice, to India on July 11. A four-member team from the Mumbai Police traveled to Dubai, UAE, on July 7 to bring back Mustafa. The team arrived at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai, on Friday. Mustafa’s location in the UAE was previously identified through close monitoring by the CBI via INTERPOL and NCB-Abu Dhabi.

Mustafa is wanted by the Mumbai Police in FIR No. 67/2024, registered at Kurla Police Station, Mumbai, for allegedly running a Synthetic Drug Manufacturing Factory in Sangli from abroad. A total of 126.141 kg of Mephedrone drugs, valued at Rs 2.522 million, were recovered and seized from the factory linked to Mustafa and others. Mustafa has been charged, and the Court has issued an arrest warrant against him.

The CBI had a Red Notice published through INTERPOL in this case on November 25, 2024, at the request of the Mumbai Police. NCB-Abu Dhabi communicated on June 19, 2025, that their authorities had requested a security mission to bring Mustafa back to India.

Subsequently, a Mumbai Police team was formed to repatriate Mustafa from the UAE.

Red Notices published by INTERPOL are circulated to all global Law Enforcement Agencies to track wanted criminals.

The CBI, acting as the National Central Bureau for INTERPOL in India, collaborates with all Law Enforcement Agencies in India via BHARATPOL, utilizing INTERPOL channels. Over 100 wanted criminals have been returned to India in recent years through coordination via INTERPOL channels.
