In a significant development for security forces in Chhattisgarh, 50 Maoist cadres, including a substantial contingent of 32 women, have surrendered in the Kanker district. This mass surrender occurred at the Kamtera camp of the Border Security Force’s 40th Battalion. The group, which included senior commanders like Rajman Mandavi and Raju Salam, also laid down 39 weapons. This event is considered a major blow to the Naxal network in the Maad region. Among the prominent figures were five DVCM-rank Maoists and 21 ACM-level cadres. Officials anticipate a further wave of surrenders, with approximately 120 more cadres expected to lay down arms in the Bijapur district soon. Security agencies are continuing their efforts to encourage more insurgents to rejoin society through enhanced outreach and community engagement programs.
