In Chhattisgarh, aspiring teachers will find the path to their profession significantly streamlined. Students seeking admission to four-year integrated courses like BA-BEd and BSc-BEd will no longer be required to take entrance examinations. Instead, admission will be granted directly after the 12th standard.

The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) has proposed this change to the government, with the expectation that the counseling process will commence in August. This reform will save students a year and eliminate the need for entrance exams for admission. Previously, the two-year B.Ed course was a common route to becoming a teacher. However, as per the directives of the Ministry of Education, this course will be phased out entirely from 2024-25. The focus will shift to four-year integrated courses, which are being implemented under the New Education Policy (NEP).

Under the new system, admissions will be offered for a total of 6700 seats across 300 colleges in the state. A merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in the 12th standard, and colleges will be allocated through counseling.
