The monsoon session of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly will commence on July 14th. Questions from both the opposition and ruling party MLAs have been submitted, indicating a focus on key issues during the five-day session.

The questions received by the Assembly Secretariat primarily address concerns such as fertilizer shortages for farmers, law and order, corruption in government schemes, negligence in official duties, local issues, and failures of various initiatives. The opposition’s strategy is clear: to hold the government accountable throughout the session.

Ahead of the session, a BJP legislative party meeting was held on Sunday to strategize responses. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai stated that the ruling party is fully prepared to address the opposition’s queries. Sai acknowledged that the session will consist of five sittings and that preparations are complete. Regarding the opposition’s claims about DAP fertilizer shortages, Sai noted that the scarcity is not limited to Chhattisgarh, but is a widespread issue. He attributed the shortage to reduced imports due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, which has impacted the production of DAP. He also mentioned the agriculture department’s efforts to promote NPK fertilizer as an alternative.
