Chhattisgarh’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has apprehended two minor boys in Raipur, alleging their involvement with an ISIS module operating out of Pakistan. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma confirmed the detentions, highlighting that this marks the state’s first instance of such a case. The minors are suspected of acting under the direction of Pakistan-based ISIS operatives, utilizing fake social media accounts, particularly on Instagram, to spread extremist ideologies. They were allegedly influenced by radical content and actively sought to influence others online. Investigations revealed they had access to significant information and were extensively engaged on the internet under the ISIS banner. The detained youths have been booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Sharma emphasized ongoing efforts to identify any other individuals involved and stressed the importance of reporting anti-national content disseminated on social media. The ATS is expanding its surveillance, especially in major cities, to uncover further radicalized elements and prevent future incidents. The operation highlights the growing concern over foreign terrorist organizations targeting young people through online platforms.
