A significant development in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district sees 50 Naxal cadres, including a substantial contingent of 32 women, surrendering to security forces. This large-scale surrender, which also involved the handover of 39 weapons, represents a major setback for Maoist operations in the region. The group was led by senior commanders Rajman Mandavi and Raju Salam. The surrender ceremony took place at the Kamtera camp of the Border Security Force’s 40th Battalion. This event is considered a crucial blow to the Naxal network within the Maad region. The surrendered individuals include several high-ranking members, such as five DVCM-rank Maoists and 21 ACM-level cadres. Officials anticipate further surrenders, with an estimated 120 more Maoists expected to lay down arms in the Bijapur district soon. Security agencies are actively engaged in community outreach to encourage more insurgents to return to civilian life.
