Deputy Chief Minister Sharma Emphasizes Respect for the Police and Fear in Criminals

Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Vijay Sharma conducted a high-level meeting with all Superintendents of Police under the Sarguja range at the Sarguja Coordination Center. The meeting involved a detailed review of the law and order situation, with strict instructions given to make the police system more effective, sensitive, and accountable. Sharma emphasized that establishing the rule of law and instilling fear in criminals is the police’s paramount responsibility. He stressed the importance of increasing the conviction rate in serious crime cases, directing regular and scientific monitoring of cases in all districts. He also instructed police superintendents to meet with people who come to their offices, communicate with subordinate police personnel, and understand their problems and needs. Additionally, he advised them to visit colleges and schools monthly and conduct weekly parades at police stations for discipline. The meeting was attended by senior police officers, including the Additional Chief Secretary Home, Manoj Pinguwa, IG PHQ Ajay Yadav, and IG Sarguja Deepak Jha, along with Superintendents of Police from various districts within the Sarguja range. The meeting focused on swift and effective action against serious crimes such as human trafficking, crimes against women and children, illegal weapons, and drug trafficking. Emphasis was placed on ensuring end-to-end investigation in NDPS Act cases and imposing severe punishments on the guilty. Instructions were also given to launch special operations to curb the manufacturing, sale, and transportation of illegal liquor, investigate chit fund company cases seriously, and expedite the process of returning funds to investors. Discussions also revolved around identifying black spots to prevent road accidents, strengthening traffic management, and increasing the activity of traffic police. The Deputy Chief Minister highlighted that improving the traffic system is a shared responsibility of the police, administration, and society. He emphasized the need to conduct drug-free campus campaigns in all schools and colleges, spread awareness among students about substance abuse, and strengthen the bond of trust between the public and the police through community policing. Sharma also stressed special training for cyber crime prevention, regular review of the beat system, and promotion of the ‘Samadhan App.’ He directed that the public be connected with the police through village meetings and public dialogue programs, so that people consider the police their friends and protectors. Concluding the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Sharma stated that the police’s actions should be such that criminals fear the law and the general public has confidence that law and order is for their safety. He asserted that respect in the public’s mind and fear in the minds of criminals is the true success of the police system.
