    The practice of observing Navratri fasts occurs four times a year, with two instances being direct and two being hidden. Apart from the Sharadiya and Chaitra Navratris, there are also two hidden Navratris. The Navratri that falls on the Pratipada Tithi of the Shukla Paksha of the Ashwin month every year is known as Sharadiya Navratri. During this time, special worship is offered to the nine forms of Goddess Durga. This year, the first day of Sharadiya Navratri falls on a Monday. Consequently, Goddess Durga will arrive riding an elephant. Her arrival on an elephant is considered auspicious. It is believed that during Navratri, Goddess Durga descends to the earthly realm to bless her devotees. Let’s find out when Navratri begins this year.

    Departure Details

    This year, the Sharadiya Navratri festival will conclude on Thursday, October 2, 2025, on the day of Vijayadashami. On this day, Goddess Durga will depart on a palanquin. The departure of the Goddess on a palanquin is a symbol of happiness and prosperity.

    Dates and Auspicious Times

    The Pratipada Tithi of the Shukla Paksha of the Ashwin month begins on September 22 at 01:23 AM and concludes on September 23 at 02:55 AM. Therefore, Sharadiya Navratri will begin on September 22, and Ghatasthapana will be performed on the same day.

    Auspicious Time for Ghatasthapana

    The auspicious time for Ghatasthapana on this day will be from 06:08 AM to 08:06 AM. Additionally, the Abhijit Muhurat will be from 11:49 AM to 12:38 PM.

    When is Navami?

    The Navami Tithi will begin on September 30 at 6:06 PM and end on October 1 at 7:01 PM. Thus, the festival of Mahanavami will be celebrated on October 1, and Kanya Pujan will be performed on this day.
