Widespread rainfall is occurring across India, with the southwest monsoon strengthening due to a system in the Bay of Bengal. This has created favorable weather conditions for the monsoon in various states. Several regions experienced heavy rainfall on Tuesday. The capital city, Delhi, is expected to receive relief from the heat with the arrival of the monsoon, bringing cloudy skies and light to moderate rain. The yellow alert has been issued. The maximum temperature is expected to be 35 degrees Celsius and the minimum 27 degrees Celsius. Light to moderate rain is expected to continue until June 29th, with heavy rainfall anticipated in the first week of July after the monsoon fully activates.

In addition to Delhi, states like Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan are expected to experience rain until June 30th. The monsoon has fully covered Himachal Pradesh, which saw heavy rainfall recently. An orange alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, and Sirmaur districts. Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh experienced a sudden downpour with thunder, which has continued. This has caused power outages and waterlogging, with people unable to leave their homes. The rain is causing significant damage to litchi and mango crops.

The IMD has advised tourists and locals to avoid riverbeds and landslide-prone areas due to the potential for sudden water level increases and landslides. Poor visibility due to fog in some areas may also cause difficulties for drivers. The weather department forecasts continued rain in the mountains for the next four days, with a weakening of the Western Disturbance from tomorrow.

Heavy rainfall is expected in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh from today until June 27th. Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, and Sikkim may experience heavy rainfall until June 28th. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to continue in many parts of central, eastern, and northeastern India over the next seven days. The forecast for the next seven days includes light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy to very heavy rainfall in many or most places in Northeast India.
