Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai is focused on promoting medical education in the state and creating accessible pathways for the next generation of doctors. In line with this, new rules have been formulated for medical graduate courses under the guidance of Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, representing a historic step for medical students. These rules apply to admissions in the year 2025. The government has amended the rules for counseling in medical graduate programs (MBBS, BDS, and BPT). According to the directives issued by the Health Department, several significant changes have been introduced in the counseling process this year, providing greater convenience and transparency for students. The changes include priority for Chhattisgarh-domiciled candidates in the allocation of vacant seats in the management quota and NRI quota of private medical colleges. Additionally, the bond service period has been reduced from the previously mandated 2 years to a minimum of 1 year. Furthermore, the entire counseling process will now be conducted online, with seat allocation and the entire admission process handled through online platforms. Simplifications have also been made regarding the income certificate requirements for the OBC category. If seats in the EWS category remain vacant, they will now be allocated to unreserved category candidates. Registration will be available in each round of counseling. The Medical Education Department has clarified that the counseling process under these new rules will commence from July 30, 2025. This decision marks a significant step towards providing more opportunities for the state’s medical students and streamlining the process.
